**Salary Range**: $39.87**- **Note: As per the collective agreement, probationary employees will receive 5% less than the regular permanent rate of the classification they are employed in, until the completion of four (4) months continuous service or eighty (80) actual days worked, whichever is the greater. **The Role**
- Assigns, delegates, coordinates, directs, and oversees the performance of traffic signal repairs and maintenance (traffic signal infrastructure and electrical connections), ensuring quality of work and timely performance. Provides technical guidance and expertise, liaising with traffic technicians, traffic engineering, and contractors regarding signal plans and to coordinate and schedule work. Assists management to set annual priorities and schedule. Backs up crews during absences.

**Duties/Responsibilities**
- Reviews daily work programs with supervisor and consults on progress, issues, and for additional requirements/resources. Assists supervisor to plan/schedule annual programs and set priorities.
- Coordinates signal repair and installation work (preventive maintenance, emergency, new construction) which includes over 530 intersections, 19km network, 19 stations, and 60 intersections with light rail transit (LRT). Prioritizes, monitors, and distributes work orders and assignments to crews. Independently delegates and balances work crews, determines staffing and material requirements, makes arrangements, and prepares work schedules with input from crews.
- Coordinates with traffic engineering, contractors (e.g., rapid transit, rail, transit), utilities, and other departments to coordinate and schedule work requirements for signalized intersections, bus shelters, trails and other infrastructure requiring electrical support.
- Patrols to monitor work performed by crew and contractors. Troubleshoots issues and works to determine and coordinate solutions.
- Assists Transportation Engineering staff to design new and modified intersections. Assesses construction designs to ensure compatibility with field fit and redesigns as necessary and replaces work orders for field fit.
- Provides technical expertise and input as part of the design review process for traffic designs and design modifications for intersections.
- Maintains documentation related to inspections, equipment, signal conditions and other program requirements (e.g., work permits). Creates and maintains work orders. Maintains digital maps and asset data in work order and GIS systems. Enters, updates/edits, and defines data to ensure field data/records are accurate.
- Performs in-field critical repairs on traffic signal equipment, reports to supervisor and recommends changes.
- Ensures all electrical work complies with current Ontario Electrical Code.
- Installs and works with 24 VAC, 110 VAC, 240 VAC electrical services and works with up to 750 VDC and emergency backup units (UPS).
- Operates vehicles, equipment, and uses specialized tools and devices.
- Orders and maintains stock materials for operations. Has a p-card and signing authority for stockroom requisitions. Contacts suppliers and manufacturers to purchase tools and equipment.
- Ensures staff maintain shop area, equipment, vehicles/trucks, hand/power tools, electronic and electrical testing devices in a safe, clean, orderly manner per policies and standards. Performs regular equipment checks and minor repairs, logs items inspected and performs regular preventive maintenance and cleaning. Reports unsafe/damaged equipment to supervisor.
