**GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY**:

- The Mechanical Pulping Manager is accountable for providing Safety Leadership in the Mechanical Pulping Department with a goal of zero injuries and Environmental Leadership with a goal of zero incidents.
- The Mechanical Pulping Manager is responsible for chip storage, handling and pretreatment; refining, screening, thickening and storage processes for chemithermo mechanical pulp.
- The Mechanical Pulping Manager is responsible for sodium hydrosulphite bleaching and hydrogen peroxide bleaching of CTMP along with the blending of the required pulps and handling of white water necessary for the manufacture of paper.
- Is responsible for the receiving, storage, and inventory management of chemicals required for CTMP production and bleaching.
- Coordinate and liaise with the Paper Mill management group to provide the necessary CTMP production and quality for the manufacture of various paper grades.
- Responsible for the preparation and administration of the annual department budget for operating, maintenance, major maintenance, and capital fixed cost expenditures.
- Maintain the CTMP Department operating personnel training requirements to ensure that Operators are trained to two levels above their incumbent position.
- Manage the various segments of the Continuous Excellence program in the CTMP Department.
- Maintaining all mill and department ISO standards
- Managing the department to ensure the above functions are carried out in a safe and efficient manner at minimum cost.

**SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES**:

- Coordinate and provide leadership to ensure that departmental safety programs such as lockout review; task hazard analysis development and review; safe work procedure reviews are carried out as per mill policies.
- Ensure that all aspects and objectives of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) programs and standards are maintained.
- Coordinate the production and maintenance requirements of the department to ensure full production and equipment availability.
- Ensure that all pulp in the CTMP is produced, bleached and allocated to meet the required standards for the manufacture of various grades of paper.
- Participate actively in the mills safety program, particularly with the CTMP operations and maintenance personnel.
- Propose and/or implement new methods, equipment, or techniques in keeping with the latest industry developments.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to prepare and administer the CTMP annual maintenance, major maintenance and capital budgets.
- Ensure the staff team coordinates operational requirements for CTMP daily maintenance work and prepares schedules for scheduled TMP shutdown work.
- Ensure, with the help of staff team, the preparation of CTMP Operating Procedures, Safe Work Procedures and CTMP Operating Instructions.
- Prepare and issue Daily and Weekend Notes to Supervisors and Manager detailing operational and maintenance events of the day along with expectations for the night and/or weekend period. Details regarding changes to quality specifications are also included.
- Ensure departmental weekly and monthly reports are completed and distributed.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**
- Accountable for the planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the manufacturing of CTMP and the storage and use of chemicals and other materials at the mill required for the manufacture of bleached pulp while ensuring safe, efficient work at acceptable costs.
- Accountable for the direction and control of the activities of the CTMP operating crews.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school or university graduate plus eight (8) to ten (10) years related experience.
- Requires knowledge of mill production methods, maintenance and operating capabilities and the ability necessary to plan and coordinate the manufacture of CTMP in accordance with the mill’s needs.
