Fortinet is looking for a new Data Analyst to join our Research and Development Team in our Burnaby, BC office
**Responsibilities of the Role**
- **Data Analysis and Reporting**:
- Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- **Business Requirements Gathering**:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements for reporting and analytics.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications and analytical metrics for BI solutions.
- **Data Modeling and Visualization**:
- Develop and maintain critical data flows and data models, consolidating data from various data sources and transforming data for analytic use
- Create visually appealing and easy-to-understand data visualizations to communicate insights effectively.
- **Performance Monitoring**:
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights into business performance.
- Identify areas for improvement and work with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven solutions.
- **Data Quality Assurance**:
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data sources by implementing data quality checks and validations.
- Collaborate with IT teams to resolve data integrity issues.
- **Trend Analysis and Forecasting**:
- Conduct trend analysis to identify patterns and opportunities.
- Assist in building forecasting models to support strategic planning.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst (Data Analyst) or in a similar role.
- 3+ years of experience in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in SQL, data transformation and data modeling techniques
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies
- Familiarity with cybersecurity and networking concepts is a plus.
