**Job Summary**

If you enjoy performing a variety of job duties with plenty of activity at a fast pace, you will enjoy the position of Sales Assistant in our sales yard. The Sales Assistant is an outdoor sales position responsible for providing customer service to wholesale customers of the nursery such as landscape professionals and garden designers. Your primary responsibility will be to assist our customers in providing fast, friendly, and courteous service. Other duties may include stocking product, helping unload shipments, loading vehicles, maintaining sales yard cleanliness, invoicing, and executing sales strategies. This position provides an opportunity to learn a variety of new skills and is a great starting point for you if you want exercise your gardening knowledge.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Greet customers and provide superior customer service Monday to Friday but may include the occasional Saturday (from April to end of June)
- Complete sales transactions with customers which would include pulling plants from various locations, loading the customer’s order into their vehicle and invoicing to complete the transaction
- Assist in the maintenance of sales department which includes watering, pruning, and merchandising the plants
- Ensure displays are seasonally correct, and look neat and well kept
- Assisting customers in pulling orders efficiently, often with time constraints

**Key Responsibilities continued**
- Recommending alternatives to our customers for products that are currently out of stock
- Processing orders and/or quotations accurately and within tight timeframes and offering alternatives to ensure sale continues
- Pulling multiple orders within time constraints and ensuring orders are pulled accurately and efficiently
- Replenish sales yard to ensure efficient customer service
- Checking stock size and quality to ensure it meets customer specifications
- Taking images of pictures using our photo booth and uploading those files onto a desktop

**Job Requirements**
- Education
- Must have a high school diploma
- Knowledge of the horticulture industry and basic plant identification an asset
- Two-year technical college certificate an asset
- Experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Special Skills
- Fluent in English
- **Must be able to lift 50 lbs. alone or team lift to 100 lbs.**:

- Adhere to all safety procedures including the purchase of necessary safety footwear
- **Must be able to work in an outdoor environment (rain or shine)**:

- Holiday time will NOT be taken during mid-April thru to mid-June without approval from the senior sales manager
- Must be able to interface with TSC Nursery staff, store employees and customers in a professional manner

**Salary**: From $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Richmond, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:
