The Northern Alberta YMCA is looking for a Housing First Coordinator. The Housing First Coordinator provides direct service delivery to individuals, couples and families who are chronically or episodically homeless with multiple barriers and high needs. The coordinator completes intake evaluations and documentations, secures housing, and ensures participants are moved in and set up in safe, affordable, suitable, and sustainable housing. The coordinator is also responsible for the effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of participant support services within the Housing First Philosophy. The coordinator will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with vulnerable populations who face housing insecurity and related challenges. As required, the coordinator will support the work of external service providers and community partners who are directly involved in their participants lives. The Housing First Coordinator carries out his or her duties in a professional manner and in accordance with all YMCA policies and procedures, standards of conduct and practice, health and safety standards, child protection standards and contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.-

- Take initiative to engage participants to ensure they are receiving housing support services to support housing stability:
- Ensure participants have tenant insurance (where applicable), utility hook up (where applicable)
- Complete cheque requisitions for damage deposit and monthly rent
- Perform intake and follow up assessments and support of program participants within guidelines and adhere to the contracted performance outcomes
- Collect statistical information and outcome data (ie demographic info, follow up and SPDAT assessments)
- Recommend quality improvement ideas and implement approved changes to services.
- Participate in quarterly and annual service delivery reviews and the collection of statistical information and outcome data.
- Research, develop and/or acquire relevant service materials, manuals and tools to meet group and individual learning need.
- Maintain accurate and current participant and program records within identified systems (ETO) in accordance to YMCA file standards, CBO file standards and applicable Privacy Legislation.
- Participate in participant and service record audits as required.
- Contribute to monthly and annual reports as required.
- Identify needs for supplies and make approved purchases.
- Contribute information to budget and forecasting activities.
- Negotiate and follow up with 3rd Party rental contributions (from Alberta Works & AISH)
- Complete participant monthly rental supplement requisitions.
- Complete monthly expense claims as required (ie: mileage and VISA claims)
- Spend pre-approved amounts from designated expense lines (ie: participant housing start up).
- Maintain current statistical, outcome and anecdotal information regarding participants and the service within identified systems (ie: follow up interviews, SPDATS, referrals and efforts in ETO).
**What You’ll Need for This Job**
- Working knowledge of issues related to social determinants of health, individual and family assessment, group work, group facilitation, program promotion, program planning and outcome evaluation.
- Working knowledge in supportive counselling skills
- Working knowledge of related community, housing, education, employment, and human services resources
- Sensitive to and demonstrated knowledge of dealing with the needs of participants from different cultural and racial backgrounds
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team skills.
- Competencies consistent with the YMCA Competencies Document at Entry-level
- Working knowledge computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office and Outlook)
- Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration
- University Degree in a Human Services field or equivalent
- Standard First Aid and CPR, Child Welfare & Police Security Clearance with vulnerable sector check
- Annual registration in a professional organization as required by law if applicable
- WHMIS Certification preferred/completed during new hire onboarding
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification preferred
- Valid driver’s lice
