**Position Description**:
Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the **Human Resources Advisor**, ensures resident centered care is provided for all residents in an individualized meaningful way and includes family involvement. This position is responsible for advising, coaching and supporting management in human resource matters. This includes employee and labor relations issues, interpretation of collective agreements, human resource documentation, attendance management, return to work matters including duty to accommodate, development of position descriptions, recruitment and retention, student placements and performance management and investigations. The Human Resources Advisor promotes and maintains effective relationships with the residents, families, site Leadership Team, staff, students and volunteers.

The Human Resources Advisor acts as a role model and ambassador for the mission and values of LeeCaring Communities.

**This is a permanent out of scope Full-Time Position.**

**Areas of Responsibility**
- Assists in identifying matters that arise through the administration of Collective Agreements.
- Coordinates grievance processes by creating and maintaining the investigation file, booking hearings, coordinating employer’s responses and ensuring timelines are met.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with union partners.
- Keeps leadership team members informed of any changes to labor/employment legislation that could have an impact for the care center.
- Participates in applicant interviews that focus on resident centered care, perform reference checks and manage on-boarding process for new employees.
- Ensure all proper employee documentation is in place prior to employees beginning work.
- Ensures Personnel files are complete and aligned with required standards and LCC policies.
- Ensures OHS practices are in place and compliance to provincial legislation. Leads/ participates in investigations as required. Participates in hazard assessments with staff.
- Ensures probationary and annual performance appraisals are completed for staff members as outlined by LCC policies and the employee collective agreements.
- Develops and implements HR Management Reporting process to monitor key HR indicators.
- Addresses performance management issues with support when required.
- Deals effectively with urgent and emergency situations and provides appropriate follow-up.
- Ensures the Leadership Team is aware of any sensitive and/ or escalating risks/ issues within area(s) of responsibility.
- Acts as an ambassador for the site and organization.
- Maintains positive relationships with residents and families.

**Formal Education**:

- Post-secondary training in Business, or Human Services related program

**Experience**:

- 3+ years of human resource experience in a health-related and unionized environment.

**Special Knowledge/Skills**:

- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to use excellent professional judgement and to act as a mentor and role model to all staff.
- Exhibits strong knowledge and skill in labor relations, seniors, healthcare or relevant specialty.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated aptitude for leadership and progression in career.
