This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.
We are currently looking for a Newcomer Youth Settlement Advisor to join our team of committed professionals. This Part-time Contract (1 year) position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Elm location in Sudbury.
Under the leadership of the Program Manager, the Newcomer Youth Settlement Advisor provides assistance, information and referrals to newcomer youth ages 12 - 24 in the Immigrant Services Office. This job is also responsible for empowering eligible newcomer youth to access information in a self-directed manner while maintaining YMCA values, as well as facilitating workshops on newcomer related topics and associated services.

**LOCATION**: Sudbury, ON
**RATE OF PAY**: $23.78 per hour
**HOURS**: 24 per week
Major Responsibilities
- Determine program eligibility
- Conduct needs assessments and assist youth with developing action plans and cross cultural competencies
- Facilitate appropriate referrals to community services and agencies
- Support youth in making informed decisions on settlement and integration
- Provide clients with ongoing assistance and follow-ups
- Answer general inquiries on the telephone and in person
- Develop new forms and materials as required
- Compile monthly statistical
- Research, create, coordinate, and deliver workshops on newcomer youth related topics
- Provide information regarding services and programs offered through Immigrant programming to different organizations, committees, schools, and to the community

**Qualifications**:

- Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
- Minimum of one (1) year of settlement experience or two (2) years of experience in personal counselling or community development
- Experience working with youth 12 - 24 years of age an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Community development and public speaking skills
- Advanced computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Solid knowledge of community resources
- Superior presentation/facilitation skills
- Above average ability to communicate with newcomer youth and their families as well as deal with any issues that they may have
- Bilingualism in both official languages an asset
- Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
