Seeking a Ukrainian Settlement Worker

**This is a temporary position, not a permanent position**. Applicant must be available for work Monday - Friday between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Weekly hours will range from week-to-week with an average of 15 - 35 hours per week.

The job requires travel across the GTA with the primary office location being in Scarborough.

**Pay rate starts at $21.92/hr. After completion of 30 days of work, the pay rate increases to $29.22/hr.**
- Outreach to Ukrainian newcomer families and youth to provide settlement services in schools, shelters and community
- Conduct needs assessment to identify immediate, intermediate and long term settlement needs
- Provide newcomer families and youth with settlement information and referrals to community services and educational resources based on their specific needs
- Conduct information and orientation sessions for newcomer families to understand the school system, Canadian society, culture, laws and other aspects of life in Canada.
- Maintains up to date client and service records and ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of client information
- Provide information to school staff with cultural sensitivities and the needs of newcomer families
- Keep updated with changes of policies and resources
- Attend meetings

**Qualifications & Requirements**
- Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, settlement or related field
- Minimum of one year experience in assisting newcomers with settlement issues
- Extensive knowledge of immigration system, school system and community resources
- Current knowledge of legislation, policies and practices affecting newcomers
- Good workshop facilitation, presentation and public speaking skills
- Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills to work with newcomer youth, parents and school staff with intercultural sensitivity
- Being Knowledgeable on issues related to immigrant and refugee communities
- Good organizational and self-management skills
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining high degree of accuracy in case management and data collection
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a team environment
- Good computer skills and knowledge of social media
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a vehicle

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 37.5 per week

**Salary**: $21.92-$29.22 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- No weekends
