Hello, my name is Talisha and I am the HR Manager at Carmela Industries (Summit Valve and Controls). I am excited to share that our team is EXPANDING We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Payroll Specialist on our Accounting Team.
The person in this role is responsible and will take ownership for this new role, full-scope payroll. To be successful in the role, you will have high critical thinking and problem solving skills, exemplary attention to detail, organization, and communications skills. **A Professional Payroll certificate or education is required. **This role is a resource for Managers when developing employee payment plans and compensation structures. **An understanding (or an ability to think through the problem to a resolution) is key. **It is helpful if you have a solid understanding of BC and/or AB tax regulation and compliance requirements (preference will be given to those with experience working in a variety of Canadian provinces).
This role is new to our organization. While we know what needs the position will satisfy, you can be a part of the development. There is plenty of room for advancement for the right person.
The job description includes:
- Process semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for companies across Western Canada (150-200 salaried and hourly employees)
- Maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, variable compensation, and deductions
- Complete annual tax forms (T4 and T2200 for example)
- Manage profit sharing, RRSP, and DPSP programs
- Process and reconcile pay period reporting such as payroll summaries, remittances, bank statements, GL coding, and benefit contributions.
- Manage employee earnings and deductions as it relates to the benefit program
- Manage benefit billing and analyze program costs and utilization
- WCB payroll reporting
- A solid understanding of office 365; Excel, Word (and Sharepoint considered an asset)
- Experience in a payroll software system
- A Payroll designation
- A friendly, professional, and courteous demeanor
- High level of ethics, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills (hitting deadlines is very important)
- A natural curiosity; big-picture thinking, critical thinking skills, a propensity for asking questions, and a drive to understand.
- A supportive, customer service approach
