Activate is a tech company known for creating Canada’s first full-scale interactive gaming facility. We are experiencing significant expansion, and are looking to expand our team with the addition of a Facilities Leader. A successful applicant will work independently or with a small team to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all Activate facilities to ensure they are fully operational, including scheduling and supervising repair and maintenance work, managing contracts, coordinating inspections, and planning renovations and refurbishment. This is a full-time, permanent position.

**The Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Facility Management_
- Ensure all buildings’ services meet accessibility standards
- Develop and maintain relationships with landlords and contractors
- Act as the escalated point of contact for all maintenance issues for all locations
- Support stores with repairs or solutioning to resolve facility breakdowns or deficiencies
- Manage janitorial and security contracts and order supplies for all locations
- Oversee the coordination of all installations and refurbishments
- Liaise with building contractors and owners for repair or maintenance
- Providing accurate and timely updates to ensure timelines and adjustments are being met
- Responsible for the security, maintenance and services of work facilities to ensure that they meet the needs of the organization, its employees, and contractual obligations
- Preparation of all preventative maintenance forms/checklists and reports, as required
- Planning and managing budgets, submitting supporting documentation
- Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs
- Handle insurance plans and service contracts
- Report feedback to the R&D department on ongoing projects
- Leadership_
- Lead the recruitment process for Maintenance Coordinators and other team members
- Responsible for training and development of new and current Maintenance Coordinators and other team members
- Manage performance of employees, including coaching informally and formally
- Oversee day to day operations including interpreting and communicating company expectations; must be flexible and available to address issues that may arise
- Health and Safety_
- Work with committees around hazard assessments, risk assessments, and facility readiness for occupational health and safety
- Ensure buildings and grounds are clean and safe from emergencies such as fires and natural disasters
- Work with stores to ensure they have the appropriate safety equipment working and available, including first aid and AED kits, etc
- Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards

**The Qualifications**:

- Degree in facility management, engineering, business administration or relevant field
- 3 or more years of previous experience in a similar role
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including holidays and weekends
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
- Must be able to read architectural and engineering drawings
- Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally with valid documentation to support international travel
