**Overview**

The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) has a career opportunity for a Media Relations and Production Specialist to provide leadership and expertise that facilitates best practices in media relations, as well as coordinates video and photo production to creatively promote our services and tell our brands’ stories.

**Accountabilities**
- Work collaboratively with External Relations team, internal staff, external clients and stakeholders to identify emerging issues, then coordinate and execute strategies to respond to those issues
- Provide media relations advice, guidance and training to staff, including the Executive Team, for media interviews and external events
- Assist in developing and implementing the media relations strategy to expand media coverage and broaden public and stakeholder awareness and understanding of SRC’s various services and projects
- Interact directly with local, national and international media to respond to media enquiries, arrange media interviews and tours, organize and execute media events and proactively pitch stories
- Develop engaging content in the form of articles, blog posts, and news releases for distribution on SRC’s communications channels and to key publications and media outlets across traditional, non-traditional and digital channels
- Work with key stakeholders in the company to develop storyboards, ideas and plans that use visual media to creatively tell a story
- Coordinate the production and delivery of visual media projects alongside SRC’s external videographer/photographer

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations
- 5-8 years’ experience working in a professional communications environment, experience working in government is an asset
- Experience overseeing public and/or media events and preparing key written materials
- Experience coordinating photo/video projects and writing scripts

**Skills**
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to details
- Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of discretion and professionalism
- Experience writing to a wide range of styles and audiences with the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
