**Indigenous Web Content and Social Media Specialist**:

**Primary Purpose**: his position will focus on revising the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition website content in order to communicate activities related to the Indigenous strategy (ohpahotân I oohpaahotaan), and working with the Indigenous Initiatives Committee to develop a social media presence. In addition, this position will develop a plan to coordinate Indigenous student support and mentorship groups within the college and with other colleges in the University**:
**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Dean, this position will work closely with the Communications and Alumni relations specialist and the Indigenous Initiatives Committee (IIC) to create Indigenous content for the College website including, but not limited to, training/professional development opportunities in the College, information about the Indigenous Initiatives Committee, student supports, and current initiatives as well as a social media presence. The incumbent will need to be familiar with the University of Saskatchewan Indigenous Strategy **_(_**_ohpahotân I oohpaahotaan) Let’s Fly Up Together_**_._**_ _
It is critical that this position establishes and maintains positive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent works both independently and collaboratively within the college, the campus community, and external community partners.
The position is expected to demonstrate exceptional communication skills in a variety of modalities (written, verbal, virtual).
**Accountabilities**:
- Supports and develops Indigenous content for the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition website and social media platforms.
- Works with the Indigenous Initiatives committee (IIC) to develop and provide a social media presence, and develop procedures for ongoing updates to the website and social media channels.
- Aligns the college Indigenization goals and activities with the University’s Indigenous engagement and Indigenization priorities.
- Applies current industry and institutional digital best practices, strategies, and trends.
- Provides advice and guidance with respect to digital content to ensure messages are consistent and aligned with strategic directions.
- Fosters professional relationships with university staff to ensure effective partnerships in a highly collaborative environment.
- Coordinates an Indigenous student support and mentorship group within the College and with other colleges in the University.
- Works with the IIC to compile a list of Indigenous speakers for both curricular and extra-curricular activities, and assists with organizing events.
- Participates as a member of the IIC.
- Assists with other projects undertaken by the IIC as time permits.
**Education**: An undergraduate degree, or relevant post-secondary education, in web design or a related field (a combination of equivalent training, education, and/or experience will be considered).
**Experience**: Minimum two years’ related experience with web design and social media communications. Experience working with web content management software; experience with a variety of online platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. Familiarity with coordinating Indigenous student support would be an asset. Knowledge and understanding or awareness of Indigenous cultures, histories, and ways of knowing. Experience developing and implementing initiatives to support Indigenous people.
**Skills**: Ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team of professionals; maintain positive relations with diverse faculty, staff, students, and community partners using tact, discretion, and cultural sensitivity; demonstrated innovation in website content creation and social media communications; exceptional writing and editing skills; the ability to take initiative and make effective decisions; strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; proven problem solving abilities; creative and artistic skills with a keen attention to detail; effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities; exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and relationship building skills are essential; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users; demonstrated responsiveness and innovation in addressing user needs; and the ability to effectively organize and implement events and programs involving multiple stakeholders.
