Kennedy House (KH) is a not-for-profit organization with a long-standing dedication to providing exceptional personalized care for youth in the Greater Toronto Area for over 50 years. KH started with an initial family-like group home in 1971 and currently operates several residential and community-based programs, for marginalized and at-risk youth, including:

- One residential program for adolescents in care;
- Three residential programs for youth and young adults living with developmental disabilities;
- A Day Treatment school program for youth struggling in the typical school setting;
- Kennedy House Youth Centre, a secure custody facility for male youth experiencing conflict with the law;
- Bailiff services to safely and securely transport youth experiencing conflict with the law;
- Kennedy House After School Program for children aged 4-13 in underserved communities throughout Scarborough; and
- Kennedy House Youth Shelter, for youth aged 16-24 experiencing homelessness.

The Residential Maintenance Supervisor 2 will be responsible for performing building and property maintenance at all Residential Program sites, including all necessary repairs internally and externally.

After hours/weekends/holiday response to emergencies or weather events, including snow/ice clearing is expected and required.

**Key Job Duties**
- A work plan is developed from the Weekly Program Maintenance List and repairs of all malfunctions arising from this list are to be prioritized and completed
- All tasks must be completed to ensure compliance with annual Ministry licensing requirements
- Respond to any emergency situations regarding the physical plant, assess the situation and assist in problem resolution as required
- Repair, prep and paint interior and exterior surfaces including walls, floors, ceilings, doors/frames, trim, etc.
- Repairs to plumbing: taps, sinks, drains, valves, pumps, toilets, etc.
- Minor electrical repairs: switches, outlets, ballasts, timers, etc.
- Clean light fixtures including changing bulbs and tubes, internally and externally
- Maintenance and repair of mechanical systems: locks, hinges, door closers and hardware, fans, HVAC systems, thermostats, cleaning of return and supply grilles, etc.
- Repairs to large appliances: stove, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washer, dryer, hot water tank, central vacuum, etc.
- Identify and report tasks requiring external contractors; may be required to arrange for quotes and/or oversee contractor progress
- Liase with external agencies/contractors regarding property management issues and services such as hydro, Bell Canada, City of Toronto, etc.
- Participate in various aspects of building maintenance requirements including new constructions/major repairs
- Operate a variety of grounds keeping power equipment.
- Complete inventories of tools, equipment, supplies and materials
- Maintain outside grounds; lawns to be cut and edged to maintain community standards and fertilized/weeded as required.
- Clear snow and ice from driveways and parking lots and salt as required
- Clean out eavestroughs, downspouts, catch basins, etc. and clean up debris and litter
- Clip hedges and bushes, prune trees branches
- Collect and dispose of residential garbage and recyclables on occasion due to overflow or missed pick up
- Complete all necessary reports, records and checklists related to the department as required
- Assess the condition of Agency vehicles and work with the Residential Program staff to bring their vehicles to outside resources for maintenance and repairs
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain safe, clean and orderly work areas
- Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, follow the law and workplace specific health and safety policies and procedures; work and act in a way that won’t hurt them or any other employee or resident; report any hazard they find in the workplace
- Participate in Health & Safety Committee meetings and attend Residential Program staff meetings and training as required
- Adhere to the principal and obligation of confidentiality with respect to clients
- Adhere to KHYS Policies and Procedures
- Be available for on-call rotation
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Skills**
- High school diploma/GED
