Acheson, Canada All-Fab Building Components Full time

Reporting to the Design Manager, this position is responsible to translate sales orders into accurate production drawings maintaining design integrity and within an appropriate time frame to include production and to meet the customer’s delivery requirements.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop and prepare designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, spec sheets, pricing, proposal presentations, and or other data for commercial and residential projects.
- Collaborate with management and sales in project selection, pricing, and business development.
- Collaborate with TSR and Production on all commercial projects.
- Lead the charge for necessary communication both internally and externally.
- Process customer information and produce accurate proposals to ensure appropriate margins.
- Communicate with sales team and/or customers to secure approved designs and once received ensure work orders are forwarded to Production.
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawings for the plant, customers, and Engineers.
- Communicate, when required, with Sales team, City Inspectors, engineers, customers, and if required colleagues from with AFG to resolve design concerns.
- Respond to inquiries from Sales team.
- Manage commercial sales projects brought in by sales team.
- Work cohesively with Design Manager to ensure regular design duties are completed/reassigned during high volume periods in the commercial department.
- Direct, train, and supervise commercial estimator and commercial designers. Guidance from Design Manager if required.
- Coach and evaluate potential projects from the Edmonton Construction Association. Guidance from Design Manager if required.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Preform site inspections as required.
- Other design duties as required.

**To be successful you will need**:

- Preferred 5+ years’ experience in both Commercial and Residential truss design
- Architectural, Engineering or Industrial Design Degree/Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Mitek training required.
- Proficient in the use of drafting software and knowledge of design software
- Basic structural engineering design
- High degree of accuracy, strong ability to focus on an open office environment.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, effective time management.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, ability to accurately read blueprints.
- Work in office daily to ease communication with other members of the commercial department, production, sales team, and management.
