The Calgary Food Bank is looking for a Client Services Assistant to join our Research and Client Services team

**Summary**:This position will act as a main point of contact for clients and agencies to assist with problems that occur throughout emergency food hamper distribution during our Saturday shifts. The Client Intake Assistant position will also provide support across other core areas of Client Services including hamper distribution and call centre.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Monitor the Client Services volunteer team during emergency food hamper distribution and assist with information and support when issues arise.
- Train Client Services volunteers in their roles to work effectively; shadow and provide feedback throughout the training process when necessary.
- Manage difficult client interactions, with the support of Client Services Coordinators and/or Supervisors.
- Prepare notifications for volunteers based on new and important information.
- Provide cover for volunteer positions across other core areas when required.
- Responsible for accurate data entry and tracking.
- Support and enact the organization’s value of always treating clients with respect and dignity.
- Inform clients of related community resources.
- Complete discrete projects that contribute to the continuous improvement of the Emergency Food Hamper program, and other Calgary Food Bank programs.

**Education and Experience Required**:

- 2 to 3 years of experience in a customer service setting.
- Experience working with volunteers, motivating teams, and ensuring quality work outputs.
- Post-secondary education in Community Development, Sociology, humanities, management, or other relevant discipline would be considered an asset.
- Well organized and pays attention to detail.
- Strong crisis and conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- A flexible and responsive team player able to multi-task and respond to the changing demands of the department.

**Working Conditions and Physical Requirements**:
This is a regular, part-time position, working Tuesday to Thursday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Hours worked beyond the regular will be earned and taken as lieu time.

Must be comfortable in changing work environments, working inside and outside, wearing appropriate PPE, standing, or sitting for long periods of time and be able to lift 25 lbs.
