**Carya** is searching for an **Intake Worker** to be the first point of contact for the community. The **Intake Worker** plays a crucial role in the delivery of family and community focused services. This position is responsible for; the initial stages of participant engagement including gathering essential intake information from participants by phone or in person; assessing participant need and eligibility based on established criteria; effectively communicating with participants in a positive and professional manner, providing information about services in Calgary which may include making appropriate referrals, obtaining consent where required, and effectively engaging with the community to facilitate referrals and coordination of services.

The Intake Worker must have advanced family/client assessment, crisis management, and effective triage skills, computer skills, and be able to collect pertinent data in regards to intake productivity and outcome measures. This role has multiple and competing demands requiring the ability to prioritize and remain solution focused. In this role, one must be able to work with staff in all departments across **carya** demonstrating an awareness of each teams needs as well as providing effective support to participants requiring services. This role also meets regularly with other agencies to understand and have knowledge about the programs and services offered in Calgary and area.

**What You’ll Do**
- Respond to participant service requests within two business days, obtain permissions, collect the necessary information, assess needs, connect and refer to other services when needed
- Implement participant eligibility criteria and prioritization procedures in a consistent manner
- Provide crisis response resource on outgoing communications or to anyone in a crisis situation as appropriate in accordance with policies and procedures
- Maintain and update participant wait lists with all pertinent information on a daily basis
- Monitor and communicate waitlist status to participants and staff regularly to assist in coordination of timely service provision
- Gather monthly intake data for utilization and outcome analysis
- Work with both internal and external resources to provide a comprehensive continuum of participant care
- Distribute agency information to other service providers in the city at interagency committee meetings
- Disseminate relevant information regarding new programs and available services in Calgary
- Actively participate in Department Team meetings, reporting pertinent utilization and outcome data
- Actively participate in file audit process completing an audit on a minimum of 5% of agency participant records quarterly

**What You Bring**
- A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is required
- Previous clinical assessment or intake experience is an asset
- Current registration in good standing with a relevant professional regulatory body
- Experience in with working with a wide range of populations, and must be able to respond appropriately to crisis situations in a professional and ethical manner
- High attention to detail with the ability to act with discretion and confidentiality is expected
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and strong communication and interpersonal skills are required
- A positive attitude combined with the ability to balance a commitment to quality service with effective time management is essential
- Great team orientation and collaboration skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Completion of Natural Supports Framework training is an asset
- Certification with the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative’s Core Brain Story
- Ability to manage their own schedule
