**Job Brief**
We are looking for a qualified **Payroll and Accounts Payable Clerk **to assist in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation and payables department in the company. You will undertake a variety of tasks such as entering payroll information, calculating wages, making payments, and entering and filing payable invoices.
The goal is to carry out all payroll and payables procedures with speed and accuracy.
**Responsibilities**
- Manage compensation packages using payroll software
- Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees
- Calculate pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves and overtime
- Calculate bonuses and commissions when appropriate
- Manage and calculate taxes and deductions
- Initiate periodical payments timely either by preparing and administering checks or making direct deposits through a bank payment system
- Issues statements and invoices and maintain records
- Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes etc.
- Calculate unemployment and severance payments
- Deal with complaints and questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll
- Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
- Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
- Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
- Generate reports detailing accounts payables status
- Understand expense accounts and cost centers
- Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.)
- Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to CFO
**Requirements and skills**
- Proven experience as **payroll and payable clerk**:
- Familiarity with general accounting principles
- Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
- Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations
- Computer savvy with working knowledge of relevant software (e.g. EasyPay and Yardi)
- Exquisite math and numerical skills
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
- Proficiency in English and in MS Office
- Excellent communication abilities with aptitude in problem-solving
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
