Bookkeeper and Office Administrator

**Responsibilities include**:
- **Accounting**:_
- Accounts Payable, Receivable, Payroll and Expenses.
- Government remittances - payroll taxes (CPP, EI, income tax, WC, EHT, CSST) and -other taxes including GST/HST/QST.
- Investigate, adjust, and resolve any outstanding balances.
- Process payments received by cheque, credit card, direct deposit, and e-transfer.
- Generate customer invoicing and follow-up, as required.
- Weekly bank / visa reconciliation and analysis of accounts and variances.
- Trial balance, monthly financial statements.
- Auditors working - Year End.
- Liaise with our external accountant in the preparation of government returns of corporate taxes.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system, perform related clerical duties.
- Prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
- Check product pricing calculations.
- **Administration**:_
- Receive, verify, and confirm client orders.
- Communicate shipment information to clients when required.
- Track shipments - watch for delays - weather - customs - other.
- Work with customs broker to manage shipment delays.
- Forward information requests to sales team.
- Get and send reports on sales, trends, past pricing, research, to help identify areas of business growth.
- Order sales supplies.
**Education and other requirements**:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant accounting program.
- Prior achievement of the CPA designation (currently in good standing) and/or equivalent is an asset.
- Accounting: 5 years (required)
- Language: English (required), French (asset)
- Strong financial accounting skills required, including tax returns, file preparations, account reconciliations, financial statements, bookkeeping, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required. Strong Proficiency with Excel is an asset (named ranges, conditional formatting, VBA, and using advanced functions).
- Working knowledge and adaptability with an accounting program such as CaseWare, Quick Books, ACCPAC, Sage 50, Simply Accounting is an asset.
- Understanding of applicable payroll concepts preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with previous experience in a customer service-related position; strong interpersonal, relationship building skills and professionalism.
- Strong commitment to continuous learning.
- Knowledge of website design and maintenance (asset).
**Travel**
- Minimum travel required.
- A valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle for occasional travel to extended Greater Toronto Area.
- Annual travel to USA for company events (not mandatory).
