**PLANNING SUMMER STUDENT**

Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, strategic, and dynamic individual to join our Engineering and Development Services Department as an Planning Summer Student.

**Hours**: 35 Hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
**Employee Group**: Non-Union
**Salary**:$19.80 - $21.68 per hour
**Closing Date**:March 7, 2025 at 4:30 PM**

**PURPOSE AND SCOPE**:
This position reports to the Manager of Approvals and will assist the Approvals Section in its day-to-day operations.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Researching best practices and other relevant information to support ongoing projects and studies
- Reviewing recent changes to legislation and policy at Provincial and Municipal levels
- Preparing communication, memos, notices, minutes, etc.
- This position may attend Committee of Council meetings, such as Committee of Adjustment, Planning Advisory Committee and/or Heritage Belleville
- Site visits when required
- Data collection, analysis, and cataloguing
- Other duties as assigned

**EDUCATION/TRAINING/SPECIALIZED SKILLS**:
Minimum Qualifications:

- Enrolled in a two (2) year community college program preferably focused on Urban and Regional Planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Enrolled in a four (4) year university program in Planning or related degree deemed equivalent.
- GIS Mapping, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office Experience.

**WORK EXPERIENCE**:

- Experience in a municipal office environment.
- Mathematical, organizational, time management, interpersonal and community skills.
- Experience and professionalism in dealing with both inter-department and external contacts, with considerations of confidential information.
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in dealing with residents, developers, and other community members.
- Ability to work under tight timelines
