**Real Estate Legal Assistant**

Calgary, Alberta

**Position Summary**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepare, review, and process residential real estate files from opening to closing, with a focus on pre-owned residential resales and related documentation.
- Draft, edit, and organize real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, mortgage instructions, transfer documents, and trust letters.
- Open, maintain, and close files in Esilaw 360, including accurate time entry, disbursements, and trust accounting-related tasks as directed by the lawyer.
- Communicate professionally with clients, realtors, lenders, mortgage brokers, and other law firms to obtain information, provide updates, and resolve issues.
- Coordinate signing appointments, gather identification and supporting documents, and ensure all conditions are satisfied prior to closing.
- Review documents for accuracy and completeness, identify discrepancies, and follow up to correct errors before submission or closing.
- Monitor critical dates and deadlines (conditions, financing dates, closing dates) and provide reminders to the lawyer and relevant parties.
- Handle general administrative duties related to real estate files, including scanning, filing, organizing correspondence, and maintaining orderly file systems.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a real estate legal assistant in a law firm environment.
- Strong experience with residential real estate transactions, particularly pre‑home resales and Unity conveyancing workflows.
- Proficiency with Esilaw 360 & Unity conveyancing software and comfort learning additional legal/real estate software as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and client‑focused manner.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple files, competing deadlines, and a high volume of details.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation, data entry, and file management.
- Ability to work both independently with mínimal supervision and collaboratively within a small firm setting.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to handle time‑sensitive issues calmly and effectively.

**Working Conditions and Compensation**
- Full-time position with standard business hours.
- In office role. Firm is in south Calgary.
- Hourly wage: $25-$27, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
