Job Description:
We are a 50 year old family business that owns and operates multiple commercial and industrial properties comprising over 500,000 square feet. Our diverse portfolio of properties includes community shopping centres with national tenants, industrial buildings and a small amount of residential property. We also operate over 30 retail stores across the greater Toronto area. Many of our store locations are leased, which makes us tenants to some of the biggest landlords in Canada.

**CAREER OPPORTUNITY: Property Groundskeeper (Full-time and Part-time Opportunity)**

We are looking to recruit a dedicated groundskeeper to maintain the appearance and functional soundness of our properties grounds. The groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining equipment and materials, and for ensuring adequate stock levels of consumables. You will ensure the appearance of trees, shrubs, flowers and lawns, and keep the grounds free from harmful insects and plant diseases. To ensure success you need to use your multitasking abilities to meet required maintenance standards for our grounds at all times.

**Location**:Waterdown, Hamilton (Travel between 2 locations within the Hamilton area)

**Role Specific Accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following**:

- Maintaining condition and appearance of lawns, grounds and parking lots.
- Mowing, watering, and fertilizing lawns.
- Planting, trimming, mulching and fertilizing flowers, shrubs and trees.
- Minor outdoor repair work; cleaning and painting benches, poles and signs.
- Keeping grounds free from snow and ice by using equipment such as snow blowers.
- Keeping facilities and surrounding areas free from trash, litter, debris and weeds.
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and materials.
- Following applicable safety guidelines and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Skill and Knowledge Requirements**:

- Proficient knowledge of maintaining lawns, fields and grounds.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficient with operating equipment such as clippers, tractors, power mowers and snow blowers.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability multi task with good organizational skills and attention to detail required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous.

**Educational /Technical Experience**:

- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
- 2+ years’ work experience in a similar position.

**Job Type**: 1 Full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm

1 Part-Time, 16 hours a week, Saturday-Sunday, 8:00am-4:00pm

Overtime may be required

**Salary**: $18.00 /hour

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Hamilton, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- operating equipment such as clippers, tractors, power mowers: 1 year (preferred)
- maintaining lawns, fields and grounds: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class G Licence (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

- 25% (preferred)
