Position Title: Indigenous Curriculum Specialist
Status: Temporary Part-time Support Contract (TPT)
Hours: 24 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Heath Sciences & Wellness (FHSW), Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Campus/Location: North Campus
**Salary**: PT Support Payband 8 (Min) $24.38 - (Max) $37.51
What you will do:
Under the general direction of the Associate Dean, Inclusive and Responsive Education, the Indigenous Curriculum Specialist will support the incorporation of Indigenous ways of being, knowing, and doing into Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness curricula and pedagogic practice, including: supporting the inclusion of land-and-culture based Indigenous content and context, as well as teaching and learning methods and perspectives, in the classroom; the revision of curricula; and supporting faculty members as they braid Indigenous worldviews and perspectives into curricula and pedagogic practice. The Indigenous Curriculum Specialist will provide consultation and support services for faculty and administrative staff related to resources, instructional design, strategies, assessment, technology, and the integration of learning technologies support Indigenous learners, knowledges and/or contexts. This Indigenous Curriculum Specialist will work with faculty and staff to help create learning environments in which Indigenous students feel safe and supported, while also supporting the learning needs and development of all students in the classroom.
**What you bring to the role**:
**Education**
- with a focus on Early Childhood Education, and/or teaching and learning from an Indigenous perspective
**Experience**
- The incumbent will have 5 years’ experience working in a post-secondary/community environment (including 1-2 years’ experience at a College/University Instructor level)
- Demonstrated ability to support faculty in teaching and learning experiences
- Direct experience working with Indigenous people and community groups, along with a continually evolving understanding of Indigenous cultures, communities, customs, practices and communication styles, strengths and needs specific to Indigenous learners
