**Salary**:Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.
**About the Indigenous Education & Engagement at Humber**:
Indigenous Education & Engagement (IE&E) works in partnership with regional Indigenous communities to ensure Indigenous students are supported and connected to their learning environment
- academically, culturally and socially.
IE&E is committed to braiding Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing into Humber’s academic programs, course content and co-curricular activities. Our Academic Team currently offers several supports for Staff and Faculty at Humber College.
**About the Indigenous Curriculum & Pedagogy Specialist Role**:
Key areas of responsibility:
- Indigenous Education Programs, Projects, and Events
- Facilitating and teaching the Indigenous Teaching & Learning Bundles
- Employee Professional Development and Faculty Curriculum Supports
- Program Development, Review, Quality Assurance of Indigenous Education
- Research, Assessment and Evaluation
- Other Duties as Assigned
**About you**:
You are a dedicated educator driven by a passion for teaching and learning, striving to elevate students' academic achievement. If this sounds like you, keep reading:
**Education**:
- Minimum 4 year degree in a relevant field of study e.g. Indigenous studies, history, education, social sciences;
- Master’s degree would be considered an asset.
**Experience**:
- Strong knowledge and experience in engaging with Indigenous knowledge systems, histories, contemporary experiences, cultural practices, protocols, and pedagogies.
- Developed research skills, including methods and methodologies that are consistent with and appropriate for engaging with Indigenous Ways of Being, Knowing, and Doing.
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, including the ability to develop and maintain relationships with colleagues, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and other members of Indigenous communities.
- Demonstrated strategic planning experience, with evidence of critical thinking and analytical skills to assess opportunities, develop Indigenous Education initiatives, and directly engage with students.
- Strong knowledge of Indigenization and its complexities in education, including the TRC’s Final Report and Calls to Action, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls report.
- Awareness of colonial histories in Canada and the impacts of colonization on Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
