**Position Title**: Health Promotion Specialist
**Status**: Appendix D contract
**Hours: 35** hours per week
**Faculty/Department**: Student Wellness and Equitable Learning Department - Wellness Education and Programs Unit
**Campus/Location**: Lakeshore Campus (3days/week) North Campus (2days/week)
**Salary**:FT Support Payband I, Salary Range: $39.34 - $45.59, Starting Salary: $39.34
Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.

**About the Health Promotion Specialist Role**:
Reporting to the Manager, Wellness Education and Programs, the Health Promotion Specialist is a solution-focused, innovative collaborator who works to conceptualize, develop, implement, deliver, and evaluate initiatives designed to support and engage students in maintaining and enhancing their overall health and wellbeing. The incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:
**Embed Health and Well-being in the Curriculum and Campus Learning Environment**
- Support the development, implementation and evaluation of curricula, programs and resources that promote mental health literacy, stigma reduction, early intervention, and healthy behaviors (resilience, substance use, healthy eating, socialization etc.).
- Provide consultation, and tailored support services that empower educators to effectively weave inclusive and wellness-focused curriculum and pedagogies into their instructional and program design, strategies, assessment, technology and learning outcomes.
- Work closely with learners to co-develop, deliver, and evaluate programs and services that promote health and enhance well-being (groups, health promotion outreach events, in-classroom trainings, online resources etc.).
- Design and coordinate learning opportunities that foster health promotion change agents to support future citizens with the capacity to promote health beyond campuses.
**Facilitate Upstream Trainings**
- In leading train-the-trainer sessions, educate and equip learners, staff, and faculty to respond to the early warning signs of declining mental health.
- Lead trainings focused on suicide alertness (e.g. safeTALK)
- Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum infusion focused on mental health and well-being (Wellbeing at Humber etc.).

**Education**
- Successful completion of a Master’s degree in an academic discipline that is transferable to the role (e.g., education, psychology, public health, health promotion, health counselling etc.).
- Mental health response or suicide alertness training (e.g., ASIST, SafeTALK etc.) is an asset.
**Experience/Skills**- Minimum 3 years of experience with knowledge of intersectional, anti-oppressive and anti-racist practices relating to mental health, harm reduction, social-emotional learning, and suicide prevention.- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate wellbeing programs which translate student development, health promotion, and health behaviour change theory to practice.- Demonstrated experience with establishing communication materials and coordination through to execution and results.- Excellent knowledge of promising practices in health and wellbeing education, including traditional instruction, on-line learning, video, social media, web, and print.
