**HEAD OF AFTERCARE PROGRAM**

The German International School Toronto is currently seeking a highly motivated part-time individual to join our young and dynamic faculty in a fixed-term position as **Head of Aftercare Program**.
- Will work three to five (3-5) days per week from 1:15 PM until 5:30 PM.
- Provides lunch supervision.
- Supports students with their homework.
- Provides afternoon care for participants in our Afternoon Care program under the school’s policies, practices, and quality standards.
- Plans and implements recreational programs and stimulating activities for children.

An existing and valid Canadian work permit and an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check to work with children and youth are conditions of employment. A good command of the German language is desirable.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven professional competence in pedagogy.
- Experience as part of an aftercare program worker, social worker, or community service worker.
- Experience in the field of outdoor pedagogy is desirable.
- 1-2 years of experience with children, youth, or comparable experience.
- Several years of professional experience as a teacher or educator is desirable.

**Requirements for this position**:

- Very good communication skills in English (oral and written).
- Communication skills in German are desirable.
- Communicate with parents, students, and staff in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Excellent organizational skills, a high sense of responsibility, and flexibility.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills, a positive and sensitive attitude toward students and staff.
- Reliable and committed team player with intercultural competency.
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Ability to assist students with their homework.
- Leadership responsibility of a small team of interns and volunteers.
- General familiarity with the German methodology and expectations of the curriculum is desirable.
- Willingness to participate in school projects.
- Ability to move around for a longer period of time in the outdoor area as well as in the school building.
