CHILD PROTECTION

Students will gain experience working with children, youth, and families in real situations. They will learn proper practices and procedures as well as methods of documentation and protocol

**REPORTING RELATIONSHIP**:
The summer students will report to an Intake Supervisor

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Major Responsibilities Include**:
1. Provide parenting supports
2. Assist families to access needed services
3. Supervise access visits
4. Provide client support services to protection workers
5. Accompany families to a range of medical/other agency appointments
6. Transport clients to and from appointments on an emergency basis
7. Documentation

**Knowledge and Skill Requirements**:
We are recruiting students to gain work experience in the Child Welfare field. We are looking for students who have some formal training or an interest in the Child Welfare field, but also willing to learn and acquire skills through on-the-job training:
1. Social Worker, Family Students & Child and Youth Studies
- all directly related to our mandate
2. Experience working with children, youth and families in real situations
3. A good understanding of family dynamics and family management skills.
4. Organization and planning skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to write clear, and to maintain accurate records
6. Demonstrated computer proficiency
7. The ability to communicate effectively with children and families, caseworkers, and key collaterals.
8. Bilingual
- French language skills are an asset

**Supervision and Mentoring**:
Each student will job shadow and be mentored by front line staff and supervisors

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $18.00 per hour
