**About us**

The Broadway Group is a family of charities and non-profits which exist to provide housing and care for older adults and people with disabilities and below market rate housing for all. Currently the group consists of three societies over multiple sites in the Lower Mainland. Group members have been providing care and housing for over 50 years. Motivated by its Christian roots, the group aims to provide professional, compassionate, and respectful support to all people of all faiths and backgrounds.

**Role**:
The People & Culture Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a caring and supportive work environment. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role focuses on the health, wellness, and engagement of our 200 team members. The P&C Coordinator is responsible for promoting a culture of compassion, wellness, and active listening, ensuring that every employee feels valued and supported. This position also handles special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing employee well-being and engagement.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Wellness and Attendance Support_

Wellness Promotion: Develops and implements initiatives to support staff wellness, including educational resources, on-site and off-site activities, and seasonal health campaigns. Acts as a key advocate for employee health and well-being, ensuring that employees feel supported in their journey towards mental, emotional, and physical wellness.

Sick Leave Support: Provides compassionate guidance to employees during sick leave, ensuring they are supported with accurate information, timely follow-up, and wellness check-ins. Maintains records of sick and other leaves, collaborating closely with employees and managers to ensure a smooth transition back to work.

Enhanced Disability Management: Works closely with team members on WorkSafe BC and Long-Term Disability claims, facilitating their recovery and return to work in a caring and empathetic manner. Coordinates graduated return-to-work plans with managers and offers ongoing support to staff throughout their recovery process.
- Employee Engagement_

Fostering Connection: Leads initiatives to strengthen employee engagement, including organizing social events, recognition activities, and staff appreciation events. Creates opportunities for employees to connect, contribute ideas, and feel recognized for their efforts.

Active Listening and Feedback: Actively seeks employee input through surveys, suggestion boxes, and feedback loops, ensuring that all voices are heard and that feedback is acted upon. Collaborates with leadership to implement meaningful changes that enhance staff satisfaction and workplace culture.
- Attendance and Absenteeism Support_

Proactive Attendance Monitoring: Monitors attendance trends, ensuring timely support for employees who may require assistance. Provides education on attendance policies and encourages open communication to address any underlying concerns.

Compassionate Follow-Up: Works with employees and managers to address any attendance-related issues through respectful dialogue and positive reinforcement, always seeking to understand and support rather than penalize.
- Employee Lifecycle Support_

Onboarding and Orientation: Supports new employees through welcoming and thoughtful onboarding processes. Works with leadership and unions to ensure that every new team member feels comfortable and equipped in their new role.
- Collaborative Projects_

P&C Administration: Maintains accurate and confidential employee files and records, ensuring compliance and transparency in all P&C practices. Collaborates with payroll and managers on employee-related documentation and processes.

Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S): Participates actively in OH&S initiatives, promoting a culture of safety and well-being for all employees and residents.

**Education, training and experience**:

- Diploma or certificate in Human Resources Management
- Minimum 3 years’ recent, related experience in a healthcare environment or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- Strong knowledge of People & Culture principles and practices.
- Certificate in professional coaching preferred.

**Skills**:

- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented.
- Strong personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the organization’s mission
- Works effectively and efficiently together with others to achieve common goals and objectives.
