**Responsibility of the Role**:Overseeing the business management of the company, ensuring that all financial and administrative systems & processes are running effectively and efficiently. You will be working with the site leadership team, and all departments and levels of employees to drive company initiatives and growth. This position has the potential to assume additional business-focused responsibilities beyond the traditional controllership role.
**General Description of the Position**:
- Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate presentation of financial information to the executive team.
- Develop and implement effective accounting policies and procedures toensure accurate financial reporting.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes and ensure accurate and timely completion of all accounting function (A/P, A/R, general ledger and payroll).
- Oversee all Information Technology, Human Resources and Health & Safety functions.
- Manage and oversee the monthly inventory and make recommendations for excess and obsolete inventory.
- Manage all banking relationships.
- Manage government audits (corporate tax, sales tax, WSIB, EHT, CPP/EI, etc.).
- Act as an audit liaison. This includes meeting with external auditors, being receptive to their findings, implementing reporting changes and communicating to the President the outcomes of the audit.
- Develop and monitor internal controls.
- Develop annual financial plan/budget.
- Develop and track the purchasing process and approve invoices for payment.
- Product cost and accounting analysis

**Requirements**:
- CPA designation.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally with some experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage and mentor accounting professionals.
- Must be highly computer literate with data mining and ERP systems, have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and analytical skills.
- The ability to work independently is crucial.
- The ability to think critically, make recommendations and follow through on implementation of recommendations.
