The Occupational Health & Safety team, is an exciting and dynamic team responsible for all OSH initiatives and ensuring assigned workplace incidents are appropriately investigated, responded to and documented in order to optimize learning opportunities and continuous improvement efforts in the prevention of workplace incidents/injuries. The team is currently going through an overhaul and roll out phase for their Health Safety Management System (HSMS) and are looking for an amazing team member who will be a part of this transformation.
**Title**: Program Advisor - Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)
**Salary**: $72,841 - $91,051 - $100,156 per year (pay range explained below)
**Contract**: Temporary - 2 Year Term
**Hours**: 37.5 hours, Monday
- Friday (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
**Location**: Metro Vancouver office(s) - Sinclair/Park Royal, on the ancestral Coast Salish Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. (Hybrid - minimum 50% in the office)
**About the role**
As Program Advisor - Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), you will promote Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness (OHSW) at FNHA through research, development, implementation and ongoing administration of OHS processes, procedures and programs. In collaboration with the Manager, you will provide specialized expertise in the delivery occupational health and safety services while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and FNHA policies.
By employing the principles and best practices of occupational health and safety, you will actively support all OHSW initiatives and take leadership of various programs and services including first aid programming, safety information board administration, joint occupational health committee organization, new hire safety orientations, ergonomics programming, as well as various seasonal and informational campaigns. Under the guidance of the Director, OHSW and the Manager, this position ensures assigned workplace incidents are appropriately investigated, responded to and documented in order to optimize learning opportunities and continuous improvement.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:
**Education & Experience**
- Degree in occupational health & safety or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 2-3 years of experience as a safety practitioner; experience within the healthcare industry or other safety-sensitive environments preferred.
- Recent and relevant experience in the delivery of a variety of OHS programs and services including workplace safety inspections, occupational accident investigations, hazard identification and control, employee and management training, prevention initiatives and the promotion of workplace health, safety and wellness.
- Experience working within the regulatory environment of British Columbia (WorkSafeBC, WCAT, BC Human Rights Tribunal, etc.)
- Experience working or volunteering with Indigenous communities is an asset.
**Occupational Certification**
- Completion of the Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) certification or working towards preferred
- Complementary related professional certification(s) are considered an asset including: Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR); Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC); Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP).
