HOURS: 37.5 hours/week
Typical hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
Some evening and weekend work may also be required.

**PROGRAM MISSION**: Through collaborations, individuals and families engage in meaningful recreation programs that build community capacity, community participation and wellness.
**PROGRAM DESCRIPTION**: The Community Wellness Connection Program (formerly the Inner-City Recreation & Wellness Program) is a partnership program between Boyle Street Community Services and the Bissell Centre in Edmonton. Through collaborations, the program provides barrier-free wellness and community development opportunities to individuals and families facing multiple barriers to inclusion.
**PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY**: To deliver participant-driven, barrier-free wellness programming and support for individuals who face multiple barriers to inclusion. We do this by creating a respectful environment where participants are included and valued for who they are and helping connect community members with other support services.
**Job Purpose**: To support and facilitate day-to-day delivery of wellness programs at our community centre and within the community. Aid in the development of problem solving (individual and collaborative), effective communication, building self-awareness, increase knowledge of healthy coping skills, and other forms of capacity building based on the needs and goals of participants. This program promotes holistic wellness, dignity, diversity and community. The populations served include Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQIA+, immigrants/new Canadians, individuals facing homelessness and other barriers such as substance use, poverty, and mental health concerns.
**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Support with the coordination and facilitation of a variety of wellness programs such as: nutrition, gardening, coping through art, emotional awareness and expression, collaborative problem solving, effective communication, and team-building through group activities.
- Includes tasks such as: purchasing and preparing program supplies, advertising programs, driving program supplies to programming areas in the city, transporting participants to programming, organizing and facilitating programming, etc.
- Working in collaboration with program coordinator and other teams to facilitate programming. Your role will be as a primary facilitator-leading activities.
- Coordinating and supporting participant access to other community programming, including animal assisted therapy.
- Provide support, direction, and delegation of tasks to program volunteers.
- Administration tasks such as: submission of timesheets and expenses; completion of incident reports as required, record keeping of program participant statistics for reporting purposes, attend regular program meetings
- Refer community members to other agencies and/or services when necessary, appropriate and within capacity.
- Maintain positive relationships with agency partners, community organizations and community members.
- Assist and work with supervisor in creating, developing, reviewing and updating program documentation and policy as necessary and/or as directed by the manager.
- Support program staff in Social Media promotions and relations.
- Co-Develop and follow agreed upon supervision and mentorships plans.
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- A degree in Psychology or Mental Health, Social Work, Social Sciences, Kinesiology or equivalent is considered an asset, but not required.
- Demonstration of a background in health, physical activity, art, and sport.
