**REPORTS TO**:Program Manager **HOURS**:Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with weekend and evening availability as needed **DURATION**: This is a temporary full-time position for 12-18 months due to parental leave. “Despite great challenges we believe unhealthy cycles can be broken, new opportunities created and, through healing, health restored" “**UBUNTU Children & Families works together with children, youth, and families who have involvement with Children's Services. Our team works, through Boyle Street Community Services, with the families to address safety concerns and identify flexible, culturally competent, community-based supports and services to help the family be healthy and work towards their goals.”** The family connections facilitator is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and conducting family meetings in circle format to address family matters, family healing and permanency. They will support and facilitate day-to-day delivery of recreation and wellness programs within the Ubuntu program with hopes to aid in the development of stability and connection. The FCF should be capable and prepared to seek more family connections and increase networks, thereby increasing long term connections and safety. Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous culture and ceremonies is considered an asset. “We stand with our clients, side by side, patiently and for as long as they want - a constant and consistent caring force.” **Position Responsibilities** - Establish strong, trusting relationships with family members while working towards an effective permanency plan for children and youth. - Act as a facilitator or case conference coordinator. - Organizing, facilitating, mediating family group conferencing, as well as planning healing circles with families. - Building Ubuntu staff capacity for group facilitation, conflict resolution, and family finding. - Assisting caregivers and support workers with the delivery of building healthy, safe relationships with child/youth’s biological parents and other family relationships - Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating the BSCS philosophy - Maintaining accurate records, files, and documentation to track permanency planning. - Building and maintaining positive relationships with the C5 and community partners. - Support self-advocacy to assist families to become their own best advocates. - BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc. **Qualifications** - Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field of study (i.e., Human Services, Social Work) - Family Group Conference certificate or any group facilitation/mediation certification is an asset. - Three or more years of experience working with families in the human service field or non-profit sector is an asset. - Trained to facilitate family group conferencing, Family Circles, and in mediation for conflict resolution practices. - Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months. - Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course. - Valid Class 5 Non GDL license and access to a reliable vehicle **Why Work for Boyle?** - All work done positively impacts the community and its members - Access to Lumino Health, including Stress & Wellness support - Employee activities and events throughout the year - Various training initiatives, and development opportunities Boyle Street Community Services (BSCS) is a values-driven organization that believes our clients are the experts in their own life.
