FIRST COOK (Squamish)

Evans Lake is hiring a First Cook for our upcoming season, at our camp in Squamish. This is a great opportunity to learn, live and work, while providing delicious meals for large groups of 40 - 120 people. This could be a great step forward in expanding your culinary career, as we cater events of all sizes, from kid’s camps to weddings to corporate groups._

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Help lead a small team cooking for summer camp, weddings, school groups and adult retreats.

Act as kitchen lead in the Chef’s absence, including days off and vacation days.

Assist in staff scheduling and food ordering

Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene standards

**REQUIREMENTS**:
A positive attitude and a love for food/kitchen life.

Clear criminal records check upon hire, with vulnerable sector search.

Food Safe: Level 1 certificate.

Banquet, catering, buffet or batch cooking experience for large groups.

3+ years food service experience.

Own transport to Evans Lake if not living at camp, as we are not accessible by public transportation.

ASSETS

Experience working with special diets/ allergy awareness.

Previous experience in a supervisory role.

Experience in a camp setting is an advantage (note: we are not a remote camp)

POSITION DETAILS

Competitive Wage: $22 - $28/ hour, based on experience/education.

Contract, full-time position (40 + hours/ week) from early April to end of October.

Private free accommodation included, with meals available when groups onsite.

COVID-19 considerations:
All guest required to wear a mask when moving about the dining hall. Frequent sanitization of equipment and high touch surfaces. All staff members vaccinated.

- Squamish, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
