**Summary**:
The Manager of People & Culture provides strategic direction, leadership, and operational support to various functions, including Recruitment and Retention, Occupational Health and Safety, Training & Development, Payroll and Benefits, Performance Management, Labour Relations, Employment Law and general human resources operations.
Reporting to the CEO, the Manager of People & Culture is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and works collaboratively with other leadership members to ensure a high level of professionalism and adherence to the Agency values and mission from an employee-focused lens, including staff safety, wellness and development. This role oversees 2 to 3 human resources / operations staff.
**Responsibilities**:
- Drive initiatives, activities, and programs to retain, recognize, engage, and develop employees.
- Actively engage and provide strategic advice to the CEO and Leadership team.
- Provide coaching and support to leadership on HR related matters
- Oversee, create, and implement HR administrative duties to ensure accurate tracking and file maintenance.
- Arrange and/or deliver equity, diversity and inclusion training for leaders and staff
- Maintain, update, and ensure compliance and implementation of HR policies, programs, and related procedures and practices.
- Ensure consistency with all legislative and/or collective agreement requirements and provisions.
- Liaison with union representatives, leadership, and employees on various labour-related matters, including negotiating local issues agreements.
- Provide advice and support as per Employment, Labour, and Collective Agreement standards.
- Support and participate in conflict resolution, disciplinary process, grievance and/or arbitration.
- Provide employee coaching and support on matters such as disability management, personal and professional development, benefits plans, retirement, etc.
- Participation in risk prevention (WorkSafeBC), OHS, and quality assurance accreditation activities.
- Act as a confidential resource for employees.
- Develop succession and mentorship programs
- Other related duties.
**Job Preferences**:
- Diploma and/or degree in related fields of Business Administration, Human Resources, Operations, or similar
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources or Operations
- 2+ years managerial/leadership experience
- CPHR professional designation or working towards it considered an asset
- Experience working within a unionized environment considered an asset
- Experience working in a community social services setting considered an asset
- Knowledge of employment legislation including the BC Employment Standards Act, BC Human Rights Code and Workers Compensation Act.
- Solution-oriented and an ability to prioritize demands and manage expectations.
- Demonstrated developmental management skills and interpersonal skills to cultivate a positive work environment.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record check.
