Maintain and develop relationships within a defined strategic account base. Essential focus on inventory management and ROWC improvement. Grow EBITDA through the addition of new programs and accounts within a defined strategic account base for products and services offered by Steel Technologies, including flat-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, valued added parts, and toll processing services. Maintain sales and solicit new business with existing strategic accounts assigned. Meet or exceed revenue, profit and return on working capital targets for the strategic account base, as agreed to with management. Prioritize efforts and work with inside sales, purchasing, and the entire Steel Technologies team to meet or exceed corporate goals and objectives. Monitor competitive activity and trends within the strategic account base and communicate to management.

**How you will contribute to the team**:

- Work with management to set goals for the strategic customer base
- Understand Steel Technologies' strengths and value proposition
- Engage in your education and development within the company
- Prospect new business and solicit quotes for business that is in alignment with our value proposition
- Respond to quotations in a timely manner using the company standard quoting format
- Convert quotations into earned business
- Maintain existing business, improving profit where possible, and grow within existing accounts
- Accountable for monthly forecasts and for working with inside sales and customers to improve forecast accuracy
- In conjunction with inside sales, purchasing, business planning, and management, manage customer inventory and accounts receivable to meet agreed return on working capital targets
- Ensure pricing updates are clearly communicated to inside sales, program managers, and admins as appropriate in a timely manner
- Monitor daily sales reports to ensure correct pricing is applied and profit targets are met
- Work with quality and inside sales to evaluate and expedite customer claims
- Make in-person calls and entertain customers appropriately to grow and maintain relationships
- Provide market intelligence to customers and become a trusted partner
- Know the customers' business and move up the value chain within the customer

**What you need to be successful**:

- Fluent in Japanese
- Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one to five years of experience in regional or strategic sales. Formal education may be substituted with experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge and understanding of sales
- Knowledge of internal controls and procedures
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of steel and other flat-rolled metal products
