Lead Hand

Lead Hand - Weekend Shift

Reports directly to the Production Manager. The Lead Hand will be responsible for general labour and oversee production flow. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.

Years of Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a sheet metal parts manufacturing environment; and
- Lead Hand / Supervisory experience is an asset.

Hours of Operation
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 6:00am - 6:30pm

Working Conditions
- Factory plant environment;
- Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and loud noises;
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of an adherence to basic safety procedures;
- Work environment requires wearing PPE: safety footwear, safety glasses and hearing protection;
- Promote health and safety in the plant;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; and
- Flexible to work approved overtime as required.

Intermediate Level
- Knowledgeable in the industry and knows about the products and systems;
- Repetitive motion with hands and arms;
- Regular attendance is critical;
- Ability to use hand tools and accurately use a tape measure, protractor and caliper as required;
- Ability to oversee a group of workers and ensure all tasks are completed in a safe and timely manner;
- Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Good communication skills with the ability to take directions;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment; and
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Specific Duties
- Inspect raw material products daily to verify conformance to specifications in order to obtain maximum yields and efficiency;
- Keep track of materials and inventory needs;
- Act as a backup supervisor when Production Supervisor is absent;
- General labour and/or fabrication duties;
- Assist with production employees to ensure they are trained and follow standards;
- Maintain housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team members;
- Assist with improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality and productivity;
- Machine operation when required;
- Ensure all equipment is operating properly, take any appropriate actions to correct any issues;
- Assist with timesheets and attendance matters;
- Initiate direct setup and adjustment of machines daily to accommodate product that is outside specification;
- Maintain productivity levels according to plant goals by feeding raw materials to machines to minimize downtime;
- Interpret Company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations; and
- Other tasks assigned by the Production Manager.
