The Extruder Operator lead hand position has become available at our client site in Vaughan, ON. This is a 12-hour continental (day/night) shift position.

DUTIES:

1. Work in a safe and efficiently manner, according to company policies.
2. Set-up and troubleshooting Extruder machine.
3. Set up & apply texture and coating line during product changes. This includes:
downloading the queued recipe, physically installing the texture and coating equipment required as per the recipe. (Reports the changeover effectiveness)
4. Sets raw material and scrap return feed rates.
5. Sets additive feed rates 
6. Monitors vacuum chamber for over-feeding.
7. Monitors extrusion and pugging parameters for consistency and adjusts if required.
8. Monitors Dust Collector and associated ducting.
9. Continually inspects all visible portions of products for color/texture variance.
10. Reject any defective product and make proper adjustments to the machine.
11. Preventative maintenance of mthe achine. (Replace wear parts)
12. Actively supports other crew members in training and operations.
13. Reports Maintenance requests to the Production Supervisor or Production Lead Hand.
14. Communicate & work as a team with other operators.
15. Actively participates in maintenance shutdowns scheduled or unscheduled, when required by the Production Supervisor or Production Lead Hand.
16. Follow the Company Quality System and Work Instructions.
17. Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times & participates in 5S program.

  • And any other duties as required by the Production Supervisor or Production Lead Hand., when the need arises.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Plastic manufacturing experience would be an asset.
General understanding of control systems
Mechanical aptitude
Valid Lift Truck Certification
Able to lift heavy materials.
