The Court of King’s Bench is the Superior Trial Court for the Province, hearing trials in civil and criminal matters and appeals from decisions of the Court of Justice.

**Role Responsibilities**:
The Knowledge and Records Management Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Knowledge Management and Information Technology Officer in enabling knowledge capture, retention and exchange at the Alberta Court of King's Bench. This position is dedicated to ensuring the availability of knowledge and information that meet the Court's current and future needs. The Specialist assists in the organization, and maintenance of the Court's knowledge resources, ensuring that knowledge management principles and standards are closely aligned with the Court's business requirements.

The Knowledge and Records Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining systems and tools that enhance the collection, storage, retrieval, access, and archiving or deletion of information. By championing a reliable and accurate information management and technology system, the Specialist ensures that users have timely access to the information they need. Additionally, the Specialist supports the transformation of business needs into information management policies, plans, tools, and processes, positioning the Court’s information as a critical asset.

An important aspect of this role is ensuring that the information management environment is accessible and that all products and services provided are current, valid, and complete. This includes organizing and posting materials on both external and internal websites. The Specialist works closely with the Knowledge Management and Information Technology Officer to develop and implement access to reliable information, analyzing usage patterns, and anticipating future business needs.

Furthermore, the Knowledge and Records Management Specialist is instrumental in fostering a culture of knowledge sharing within the Court. This is achieved by participating in stakeholder presentations, assisting with records management training, and developing training materials and tools.

Few of the duties are listed below:

- Assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance/management of Court Knowledge Management systems, including the Court Intranet site, to ensure the efficient and effective retention and communication of organizational knowledge, and to further the Court’s digitalization objectives.
- Assisting in the development, maintenance and enhancement of information management policies and framework to enable users to connect the quality, quantity and usage of its information in generating knowledge assets.
- With a focus on the Court's records management system and accessing information in a timely manner, responsible for drafting RIM recommendations and assisting with the development and implementation of classification schemes.
- Assist in supporting the Court of King’s Bench Knowledge and Records Management policies, programs and systems to ensure compliance with, and efficient operation of these initiatives.

**Role Responsibilities (continued)**:
The position requires knowledge in the following areas:

- Understanding of records and information management (RIM) principles, policies, procedures, standards, best practices, and legislation
- Knowledge of Knowledge Management (KM) theory and the distinction between KM and RIM
- Familiarity with Court of King’s Bench organizational documents, programs, and initiatives
- Knowledge of Government of Alberta (GoA) and Ministry IT standards, information sharing policies, and security protocols
- Expertise in information management systems, change management, and evolving information analysis tools
- Familiarity with web design and Microsoft 365, including SharePoint, PowerAutomate, PowerApps and PowerBI
- Familiarity with legal resources (an asset)
