**The Position**:
Our rapidly growing business requires smart people to support and sustain our ever changing and expanding manufacturing environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading-edge company as a key contributor in this role. As the Health and Safety HR Coordinator you will work collaboratively with business leaders, functional managers and employees to build, implement, and oversee health and safety programs to ensure a safe and productive workplace. You will be responsible for facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines by supporting best-in-class safe work practices and comprehensive personnel training. In addition to the above-mentioned responsibilities, the Health and Safety HR Coordinator, will provide exceptional customer service and support to managers and employees regarding a wide range of inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and information (data).
**Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate day-to-day health and safety matters with manufacturing managers, production team leaders and workers
- Manage health and safety programs (i.e. confined space, emergency preparedness, lockout tagout, WHMIS, contractor management, spill prevention etc.)
- Review and audit existing health & safety policies to ensure compliance with regulations, standards and company procedures.
- Partner with the manufacturing team leaders, workers, health and safety committee members, to drive continuous improvement and enhance the safety systems at Melitron.
- Facilitate various training sessions including the Health and safety orientation, safe work practices, use of personal protective equipment, and machine emergency procedures as applicable to the position for new hires.
- Act as a contact for the Ministry of Labour (MOL) during reporting, reviewing/posting of notices and follow up as required.
- Work with external training partners to ensure employee training and certifications are current (e.g. forklift, aerial platform, first aid, etc.)
- Conduct investigations, including complaints, incidents and potential accidents; write reports to document findings to drive initiatives.
- Monitor machine or equipment changes, ensuring that health and safety precautions are being considered.
- Coordinate JHSC activities including work area inspections and scheduled meetings.
- Analyze time and attendance and ensure compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Degree or diploma on occupational health and safety or equivalent work experience in health and safety.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee certification.
- 3+ years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Experience writing policies and procedures for health and safety.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills - interacting with employees at all levels of the company.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
