**Position(s) Title: Health and Safety Coordinator**

**Classification**:Full Time

**Position Summary**

Cox Construction is looking for people to join our growing Construction Team in the building of roads, drainage infrastructure, earth moving and supply of aggregates to our customers.

We are looking for individuals who work well with others as a team and can work independently. Provision of company vehicle year-round for the position.

**Major Responsibilities (Not limited to)**
- Yearly review, evaluation and updated training as necessary of all policies
- Research industry regulations and changes to in order keep the company compliant.
- Arrange for all inhouse and outsources training programs.
- Maintain training records.
- Working with the Site Supervisors;
- Monthly inspections of active sites
- Hazard assessments, and accompanying related toolbox talks
- Presence when high risk activities are happening
- Strong working knowledge of OTM Book 7 requirements
- Working with the Project Managers and Operations Manager
- Obtaining and maintaining Form 1000 s for individual projects and record listings
- Obtaining and maintaining Health and Safety Policies from each trade
- Obtaining and maintaining ‘Orientation’ sheets from subs on sites
- Monthly H&S meetings with management
- Attendance at Project Site Meetings (where applicable)
- Jobsite Orientations with all employees
- Shop Inspections
- Follow-ups on Jobsite Inspections Sheets
- Set and monitor yearly program targets; compile and maintain statistics
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, injuries
- Research upcoming safety blitzes and ensure site personnel are equipped with the knowledge to handle these inspections
- Maintain SDS information
- Advise on and inspect Infection Control measures on certain job sites (additional training can be provided)
- Provide monthly and yearly H&S reports

**Education, Experience and Qualifications**
- Formal education in Occupational Health and Safety and/or Risk Management
- Formal safety designation, minimum of CRSP or CHSC designation
- 7-10 years of experience with construction/project safety experience and surface mining
- Possess a strong knowledge of the Ontario Construction, Industrial and Surface Mining Regulations
- Experience with the **COR and ISO45001** program and compliance is mandatory
- JHSC certification considered a strong asset
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel
- Standard First Aid and AED certification
- Strong organizational, coaching, communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated team player with a strong commitment to improving health and safety performance
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to sites and projects
- Valid driver’s G license required
- Willingness to work extended hours, weeknights, weekends and holidays, as required
