Unit SummaryThe Centre for Healthy Aging (CHA) is located at the St. Peter’s Hospital site of Hamilton Health Sciences. The CHA offers specialized, geriatric ambulatory services in geriatric medicine and geriatric psychiatry. These inter-professional services are offered through clinic visits, virtual care and/or through outreach to the community.Position SummaryThe Secretary will provide clerical support within the Centre for Health Aging. There is a large focus on registering patients and managing the ongoing appointment booking processes within the ambulatory setting. The Secretary also contributes to our data collection systems and coordinates / maintains the health records within the CHA. The Secretary works collaboratively with geriatricians, interdisciplinary team members, medical learners and other secretaries in the Centre. In addition, the Secretary will provide replacement secretarial coverage within the Centre as needed.Schedule Work HoursDays: Monday - FridaysQualifications1. Medical Secretarial Diploma from a community college, business school or equivalent2. Medical terminology certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated equivalent3. At least 2 years clerical experience in an ambulatory, interdisciplinary clinic setting4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills supporting a commitment and respect for patients, families and care providers5. Demonstrated proficiency of clinical and network systems (EMR, Meditech, IHIS, Community Wide Scheduling, Clinical Connect, Sovera)6. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Internet searches, library searches7. Demonstrated experience working with databases8. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment9.
