What do you offer?
The Employer Liaison of Power of Trades will work as part of the team that provides employment services to new immigrants wishing to pursue a career in the skilled trades in Ontario. Reporting to the Director and the Senior Director of Employment and Newcomer Services, the Employer Liaison is responsible for ensuring the program facilitation is seamless, ensuring that there is sufficient community awareness for the program, and providing support to program participants. The Employer Liaison is also responsible for the recruitment, selection, and deselection of program participants, facilitation of workshops, and connecting program participants to employment.
Some of the tasks of this position include:
- Leading the outreach and program promotion process; gain program awareness within the community network.
- Developing and facilitating workshops to program participants related to pre-employment and job preparation.
- Connecting with skilled trades employers to solicit and confirm work placements for participants, and match participants to jobs.
- Implementing procedures for operation of programs within the guidelines and contractual obligations.
- Recruiting potential employers for work and placements for participants, or guest speakers.

The successful candidate will have the following:
Education
- Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field
Language
- Fluent in English, oral and written
- Bilingualism is an asset
Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Related experience might include: Recruitment Training, Human Resources Certification, Social Services Worker Diploma or Developmental Services Worker Diploma
- Experience in job development/matching and/or employment counselling
- Intermediate computer skills; use of databases, MS suite, video conferencing platform
- Ability to work with clients with diverse backgrounds and skill levels; particularly newcomers and immigrants
- Strong facilitation skills with proven experience in developing curriculum in career readiness, pre-employment, and life skills within an employment program setting
- Superior problem solving and creative skills
- High level of interpersonal oral and written communication skills
Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
- Annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
