Our division is a dynamic and fast-paced organization that help deliver on the ministry's key priorities for Long-Term Care. Working with partners from across the Ministry and government, the Division leads the design, development, and implementation of legislation, regulation, and policy.
The Financial Policies and Procedures Unit is looking for a skilled professional to provide policy analysis and expertise to the unit in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of financial management policies and procedures of the ministry's strategic plan.

What can I expect to do in this role? In this role, you will:
- Provide policy research, analysis and support in the conceptualization, development and evaluation of innovative and strategic financial, funding and fiscal policies, best practices and performance standards related to Ontario's health system, in particular, the Long-Term Care System
- Support the ministry's strategic/program policy priorities and strengthen the financial management and funding system for various health care sectors and programs especially related to the Long-Term Care sector
- Conduct research and analysis of best practices in financial management and funding policies in other jurisdictions
- Prepare risk and impact analyses and develop policy recommendations and options
- Prepare draft performance indicators, analyses and reports on results of ministry financial performance and compliance to established policies
- Lead and/or participate on working groups comprised of branch/ministry colleagues and ministry stakeholders as part of a major policy initiative
How do I qualify? Technical Knowledge You have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of policy development and evidence-based research tools, research and evaluation methodology
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial management, funding policy development and fiscal planning to lead, conduct and participate in policy research and analysis in support of the development of strategic initiatives
- General knowledge of the health system as well as related government/ministry directions, priorities and stewardship principles
Project Management and Organizational Skills You have:
- Knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies to lead projects including the provision of reports on progress and results
- Knowledge of performance standards and indicators to conduct performance monitoring
- Organizational and planning skills to prioritize multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines and ensure requests are processed in a timely manner
Communication and Relationship Management Skills You can:
- Prepare and present research analyses, reports, policy options/recommendations and briefing material
- Develop and manage working relationships with internal/external stakeholders, build productive relationships and foster collaboration
Computer Skills
- You are proficient with computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software to produce correspondence, reports, presentations, spreadsheets and software applications
