The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 37 hours.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. We are recruiting a full-time permanent Support Secretary within Endocrinology. This role will support the Osteoporosis Service Shift pattern: Monday to Friday.
The post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to Specialist Nurses and associated medical staff within the Endocrinology service. The role is highly specialised and diverse. It demands excellent organisational skills along with a high degree of knowledge and accuracy in both secretarial and administrative procedures.
You must have excellent communication skills, experience in dealing with the public, colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team. You must be able to concentrate on essential tasks despite frequent interruptions.
It is desirable for you to have a Business Management/Administration Qualification or equivalent knowledge and skills in medical administration. Reasonable knowledge of NHS systems is desirable and a working knowledge and understanding of the NHS Trakcare system. Essential skills required are the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload, meet tight deadlines and have a good working knowledge of all Microsoft software applications.
