Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Global Operations Portfolio Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Operations leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the Global Operations project portfolio, including facilitating annual prioritization, business case review and funding, project governance, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management
    • Work with Global Operations stakeholders to identify and enable prioritization of project investments to delivery against strategic and operational priorities, including productivity commitments.
    • Define and maintain portfolio prioritization model and recommend de-risking actions through data-driven analysis.
    • Facilitate the development, review, and approval of business cases.
    • Monitor and identify overall portfolio mix, including cross-project/program/LOB dependencies.
    • Track project costs and benefits realization across the portfolio.
    • Work with Global Operations Finance to track project spend and forecast relative to overall plan and specific project approvals.
    • Identify issues associated with project delivery and benefits realization to Global Operations Leadership.
  • Project Governance and Reporting
    • Monitor Global Operations initiatives and ensure the effective use of enterprise standard tools for all IT project functions.
    • Ensure Global Operations portfolio is in alignment and compliance with Enterprise Portfolio Management Office and Global Finance policies and standards.
    • Develop data-driven portfolio reporting and dashboards, including project health, status, risks, issues, benefits, etc., to support decision-making at monthly leadership portfolio reviews.
  • Project Financial Management
    • Lead the team in identifying and reporting on portfolio issues and dependencies.
    • Identify, track, communicate, and escalate overall portfolio risk to Global Operations Executives.
    • Lead the team in working closely with Global Operations Finance/EPMO to review and provide project/financial oversight on all business cases.
    • Ensure alignment and awareness to finance policy for projects, including software amortization, etc.
    • Provide regular financial updates on project spend, forecast, trends, etc.
  • Division Transformation, Training, and Change
    • Develop division-specific means and mechanisms for enterprise standards and norms.
    • Provide training, guidance, and coaching within IT to improve project capacity and capability as new standards are developed or rolled out.
    • Develop and maintain a centralized online information hub for Global Operations PMO documentation, including mandates, processes, and standards.
    • Support Global Operations functions through the Enterprise Delivery Framework, including the Business Case Approach and relevant policies.
    Requirements
    • Education and Experience
      • Business, financial reporting, or accounting degrees preferred.
    • Skills and Abilities
      • Excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of project performance measurement tools/criteria.
      • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
      • Strong organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
      • Good people skills to foster a positive work environment.
      • Exemplary customer service skills.
      • Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines with multiple priorities.
      • Strong team management skills.
      • MS Office, superior MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint skills.
      • Familiarity with GL systems and data; time tracking tools; project management tools.
