Job Description

We are seeking an Intermediate level Design Strategist to join our Corporate Design & Innovation department in North York, ON. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and managing an ongoing Advanced Concepts program, focusing on research, concept development, and communications using consulting SMEs and design resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define a new and repeatable process for the AC program, building upon and evolving our brand aspect of Innovation.
  • Manage schedule, budgets, and deliverables involving both internal and outside contributors and consultants.
  • Select and define possible future-relevant topics as determined through industry insights, research exploration, and executive inputs.
  • Facilitate and lead collaborative workshop discussions on key topics involving SMEs and concept designers.
  • Identify and engage relevant consulting resources, including writing and managing contractual agreements and pay schedules.
  • Liaise with Marketing and Sales for exhibit and communications purposes.
  • Communicate any project-related issues to management in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Create formal and informal presentations to support development work and communicate program intent with the ability to modify style and content to communicate with various audiences (internal and external).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Skill / Think on paper to solve concept design problems.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving, demonstrating creativity and innovation.
  • Ability to integrate & synthesize external inputs in the development of ideas; agile and adaptable as project needs change.
  • Self-manage time, tasks, and next steps; pay attention to detail and verify work.
  • Working knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes and their impact on designs.
  • Proactively assist and involve others; initiate collaboration and seek input from others.
  • Demonstrate integrity; treat everyone equally with fairness, honesty, and respect.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as creative visualization/drawing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-directed.
  • Strong knowledge of model building, proficient in reading technical drawings.
