Job Description: Senior Financial Strategist

The Senior Financial Strategist will play a key role in our dynamic Financial Investments & Analysis (FIA) team, reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Investments & Analysis. Based in Toronto, this exciting opportunity offers a chance to join a rapidly expanding team dedicated to identifying potential M&A opportunities and driving growth within the Canadian healthcare landscape.

Role Overview

The FIA team supports corporate development initiatives across various stages of the M&A lifecycle, from preliminary due diligence to performance analysis. As a Senior Financial Strategist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating target companies' historical financial performance and operational data, transforming insights into actionable information for internal decision-making.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of target companies' earnings, normalized earnings based on Lifemark's cost structure, and performing comprehensive cash flow testing, payroll reconciliation, revenue analysis, variance analysis, and other due diligence tasks.
  • Benchmarking financial and operational data against Lifemark's network clinics to identify areas of improvement and growth opportunities.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of target companies' existing capacity and growth potential.
  • Identifying key risks and potential deal breakers throughout the due diligence process and summarizing findings.
  • Participating in meetings and conference calls with target company management, corporate development teams, and operations departments.
Deal Valuation & Presentation

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Building business models (DCF) based on normalized EBITDA and each deal's investment strategy.
  • Collaborating with the corporate development team to prepare approval packages for senior executives.
Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and be pursuing a CPA, CFA, or CBV designation.
  • At least 1 year of experience in audit or financial due diligence/transaction services, preferably in top-tier accounting firms.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial commercial awareness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
