Job Summary

This role involves providing occupational therapy services to clients with serious mental health issues and substance use concerns. As an Occupational Therapist, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team working without general supervision. The successful candidate will have experience in a complex healthcare environment and possess excellent communication and consultation skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services to designated clients in a client-centered model of care
  • Travel to various work locations as required
  • Perform assessments on client's occupational performance using evidence-based approaches
  • Plan and implement outcome-oriented services, evaluate their effectiveness, and act as a clinical resource for the team
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress
  • Participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives
  • Contribute to quality management and ensure safe and effective resource utilization
  • As required, participate in departmental/program quality improvement initiatives, meetings, research, and education

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:



  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC)
  • Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)
  • Two years' recent, related clinical experience in a complex healthcare environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • A valid driver's license for local area travel, which may require the use of a personal vehicle

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:



  • Knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client/d family centered model of care
  • Knowledge of the COTBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners
  • Knowledge of other healthcare disciplines and their role in client care
  • Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated clinical areas
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures
  • Knowledge of research process and methodology
  • Ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health
  • Ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities, and deal with conflict
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, coworkers, physicians, other healthcare staff, and external agencies
  • Ability to provide effective consultation and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others
  • Demonstrated skill in occupational therapy techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including software applications
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Estimated Salary Range

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $87,240 - $109,410, based on a 37.5-hour workweek.
