Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist 2 to join the North East Adult Mental Health team. As a key member of the team, you will provide occupational therapy services and treatments using current theory and evidence-based practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services and treatments to clients using current theory and evidence-based practice.
  • Work in a team-based environment to develop, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy services.
  • Consult, confer, and/or collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote quality improvement activities and interdisciplinary research.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
  • Three (3) years' recent related clinical experience in mental health and substance use services, including one (1) year coaching or group facilitation experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client-based and family-centred model of care.
  • Knowledge of COTBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical practice related to the treatment and care of the designated client population.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles, methods, and tools.
  • Knowledge of VCH policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Knowledge of other health care professions and their role in client care.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and related processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational materials and programs for the designated client population.
  • Ability to promote a creative learning environment, including the ability to use critical thinking in teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals and/or groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain rapport and working relationships with various stakeholders based on respect.
  • Ability to develop and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, including the ability to manage conflict issues.
  • Ability to operate related equipment, including applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
