Occupational Therapist II in Pediatric Care

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist II to join our team at BC Children's Hospital, providing expert care to children and youth with complex needs.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced occupational therapist to specialize in pediatric care, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will focus on enhancing occupational performance in areas such as self-care, productivity, and leisure within a client-centered care model.

You will use your advanced knowledge of biological, behavioral, social, and occupational sciences to provide comprehensive assessments and interventions. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing the dynamic relationship between clients, families, and environments, and developing innovative solutions to assessment and treatment issues.

Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy assessments using advanced clinical reasoning and skills, focusing on enhancing occupational performance in pediatric populations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Document information, including relevant clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and outcomes, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and caregivers to foster optimal progress through establishing supportive, collaborative, and therapeutic relationships.
  • Participate in education and research activities, contributing to the development of new treatments and therapies.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy and licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia.
  • At least two years of recent related experience, including one year in pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
  • 50 hours of postgraduate coursework or training related to additional procedures, techniques, and job functions for the assigned area.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one, and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
