Director, Global Benefits & Retirement

OMERS is a purpose-driven, dynamic, and sustainable pension plan that embodies the values of its 600,000+ members. We're seeking a dynamic leader to join our Global Benefits & Retirement team, based out of our Head Office in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute scalable global benefits and retirement solutions, aligning with OMERS HR and business strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, workforce, and business environment to adapt benefit programs, ensuring competitiveness and preventative design.
  • Support research on global design of preventative health programs, benefits, and retirement programs, ensuring cost-effectiveness, progressiveness, and market competitiveness.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to senior leadership, developing integrated reporting for benefits and retirement to various stakeholders.
  • Oversee global disability management programs, manage relationships with absence and disability management vendors, and partner with other departments for execution.
  • Manage global benefits renewals, develop and oversee global retirement plan communications, and participate in the selection of benefit vendors.
  • Effectively lead and coach a high-performing team to achieve business objectives, participating in global annual financials and budget cycles.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a Pension and Benefits or related field.
  • Ability to consult and translate business needs into HR plans and programs that support business goals and objectives.
  • Proactive focus on continuous improvement, demonstrated expert knowledge in international benefits and retirement, and knowledge related to disability management.
  • Superior organization skills, relationship building, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence key partners.
  • Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to think and act strategically and operationalize strategy into long and short-term implications.
